Defence Infrastructure Organisation picks JV for 2,100-home scheme in Gloucestershire
Vinci and St. Modwen have been appointed by the Defence Infrastructure Organisation as development managers for a 2,100-home scheme at the MOD鈥檚 Ashchurch site in Gloucestershire.
The 50/50 joint venture between Vinci and St Modwen will oversee the construction of the homes on six hectares of land at Ashchurch, including providing strategic advice and leadership, on-site development and managing the disposal process.
The JV will also be given the opportunity to construct some or all of the developments鈥 commercial aspects and is expected to build some of the residential accommodation.
Mark Hirst, Defence Infrastructure Organisation (DIO) development manager, said: 鈥淒IO is delighted to appoint Vinci St.Modwen as development manager on this major redevelopment project.
鈥淥ur purpose is ensure the right buildings are in the right place to support our Armed Forces and that the military estate is no larger than required to meet defence needs.
鈥淏y redeveloping land which is no longer required by the Ministry of Defence we not only realise value for money for the taxpayer, but also provide space for homes and businesses which benefit communities.鈥
