Artist鈥檚 floating two-storey house, designed as symbol of American dream, sinks
As metaphors go, the sad tale of Mike Bouchet鈥檚 floating house at the Venice Biennale takes some beating.
The artist鈥檚 exhibit, a floating suburban home intended to represent the American dream, was intended to sit on a barge in a canal alongside the Biennale for six months.
But, for reasons that have not yet fully been explained, the full-size replica of a two-storey home sank beneath the Venetian waves during its installation.
As a symbol of the collapsed housing market that has capsized the American economy, Bouchet鈥檚 failed exhibit could not be more apposite.
