Natural England launches partnership with developers that aims to get residents fit and healthy
Interview with London director of Natural England Alison Barnes
Postscript
The Natural Development partnership has four goals:
- Encourage a 'Natural Heath Service' where locals use natural spaces to keep fit and healthy
- Preserve existing natural character of the land around the scheme
- Use the natural infrastructure to make schemes more resilient to climate change, eg sustainable urban drainage and green roofs.
- Providing spaces for nature education and food growing
The aim is to develop a natural package at the masterplanning phase, says Barnes. "By doing this early it will cut out the environment versus developer debate."
