Consultant Urban Initiatives has been appointed to carry out a regeneration study in Brighton.
Brighton & Hove council has commissioned the practice to undertake a study of London and Lewes roads, two corridors to the north of the city.
The areas include retail properties, an industrial park and two universities. They contain a number of listed buildings and open spaces, but have suffered from heavy traffic. The council intends to improve the appearance of the local environment, to encourage cycling and walking.
Heather Cheesbrough, project leader at Urban Initiatives, said: 鈥淏righton has taken off over the last decade, but there are still areas which would reap benefits from a regeneration effort.
鈥淲e shall be seeking to develop proposals which build on the opportunities while addressing the pockets of deprivation. The results will feed into the local development framework.鈥
