Former Lafarge sustainability expert who has developed the Government sustainable construction strategy to join next year
The UK Green ºÃÉ«ÏÈÉúTV Council has appointed a new diretcor of strategy. Jeremy Sumeray joins from Lafarge Group, where h spent 12 years in senior sustainability roles. Recently he has been seconded to DBERR to lead the development of the Government's sustainable construction strategy, and will make a phased transition to the UKGBC from January, to be full time from April.
Paul King, Chief Executive of the UK-GBC said: " Jeremy brings a wealth of experience to the role, and will lead the UK-GBC's ‘roadmap to sustainability', which includes co-ordinating our expanding number of task groups that are being established to tackle particular barriers standing in the way of a sustainable built environment. This senior role will also include strategic membership recruitment, as the UK-GBC gears up for a busy second year."
Sumeray said: "The UK-GBC has set an exciting and ambitious agenda. I look forward to meeting and working with the members, and supporting Paul and the team in delivering a long-lasting change in the way that we design, construct and use our buildings and infrastructure."
The Director of Strategy at UK-GBC will report directly to Chief Executive Paul King. The role includes responsibility for:
- UK-GBC roadmap planning
- Task Group co-ordination
- Overview of UK-GBC policy
- representing UK-GBC at industry events
- strategic member recruitment
