British companies well placed to help build Indian infrastructure, says business secretary
Business secretary Vince Cable has encouraged UK companies to help build up to 80,000 km of roads in India.
As part of a 50-person business delegation to India, he oversaw the signing of an agreement promising greater cooperation between the UK and India governments on road-building.
Cable said: 鈥淯K firms with their world-class expertise and capabilities can be the partner of choice as India builds its capacities to fuel growth. This agreement will help to pave the way.鈥
Companies sending delegates included Arup, Mott MacDonald, Balfour Beatty. The department for business and skills said that India had over 80,000 km of roads that could be expanded or built.
