Mace, Arup and Gleeds selected by the Department for International Trade
A team made up of Mace, Arup and Gleeds has been chosen by the Department for International Trade to help repair severe damage caused by the El Nino storm which hit Peru in 2017.
The DIT has signed a deal with the South American country’s government to support the reconstruction, construction and enhancement of infrastructure damaged by El Nino.
The UK Delivery Team will act as the delivery partner to Peru’s Authority for Reconstruction with Changes (ARCC) and develop plans to mitigate and reduce climate and geohazard risks in 19 river basins.
The programme includes both new build and renovation of 74 schools and 15 new health centres.
As El Nino is a recurring phenomenon, the programme also includes for the UK to support Peru to develop plans for flood mitigation infrastructure in 19 river basins, five gullies and seven new urban drainage systems.
This agreement will last for two years, running from next month until to June 2022, with the possibility of a six month extension.
