Shadow education secretary reveals plans for a "high-tech" science academy in every area if Conservatives win election
The Conservatives have pledged to build new technical schools in England鈥檚 12 biggest cities if they win the next election.
The schools would be funded from within the 拢4bn academies budget, shadow education secretary Michael Gove announced today. He said the long-term aim would be for there to be a technical school 鈥 described as a 鈥渉igh-tech academy鈥 focussing on science and engineering - in every area.
Gove said: 鈥淥ur new technical schools will provide credible, high quality vocational education in each major city.鈥
However, the Conservatives also said they would move away from the assumption that all schools that are opened as academies should be entirely rebuilt.
