Construction minister Stephen Timms will tell small businesses how they can benefit from the Olympic Games
Construction minister Stephen Timms will today commit the government to helping small businesses win work at the 2012 Olympic Games.
At a conference today, Timms will speak to small business representatives about the opportunities afforded by the Games, and how to take advantage of them.
He will say: "We want to ensure that as many firms as possible can benefit from the 2012 Games. That is why we are setting out the business support services that can help firms win opportunities to supply London 2012, grow their businesses for the long term and compete internationally."
The conference in Leicester, entitled "Taking business beyond 2012’, follows the launch of the London Business Network last week – a self-styled business ‘dating agency’ putting together SMEs with existing Games contractors.
Today will see the Network rolled out to the regions outside of the capital, with support from local development agencies.
