Contractor McAleer & Rushe issues statement following accident on Milton Keynes building site.
Three construction workers are still in hospital following the scaffolding collapse in Milton Keynes.
Twenty people were injured in total when the scaffolding of a new Jury's Hotel under construction in the city's Witan Gate East collapsed in sustained high winds at 12.30pm on Tuesday. The scaffolding covered 15m of both the west and north elevations of the building.
The three injured construction workers were sent to Milton Keynes General Hospital where they are currently receiving treatment.
Contractor McAleer & Rushe issued a statement last night. Managing director Eamonn Laverty said: "Our prime concern is for the health and wellbeing of the individuals involved in the incident and to this end we are awaiting an update on their condition from the hospital.
"The company's health and safety officials are currently conducting an internal investigation into the accident."
Thames Valley Police said up to 20 ambulances and two air ambulances arrived at the scene. Witness Christopher Keen told the BBC: "It is a massive building site. There are six tower cranes but the scaffolding is just one pile of matchsticks."
The Health and Safety Executive sent three inspectors, including an engineering expert, to the site on Tuesday afternoon.
