Study of 2,193 construction workers shows they had been victim of theft in workplace
Almost three quarters of construction workers have been the victim of theft from work a new study has found.
The study polled 2,193 UK construction workers aged over 21 that had been employed in various sectors of the industry for at least two years.
Over a third of thefts took place in a 鈥渃lient鈥檚 house鈥 with 27% taking place on a building site and 22% out of a work van or vehicle.
Over half of those who were victims of personal theft said they hadn鈥檛 told their employer about the incident, instead feeling like it was their fault for not properly protecting their goods.
The remaining 48% stating they had informed someone in a higher position, but only 17% felt their complaint was efficiently dealt with by their employers or the police who investigated the crimes.
The research was conducted on behalf of insurance company .
