Consultants are preparing for the struggle to find a place on a Transport for London framework, which is expected to open for bidding in the next few weeks

TfL, which announced a £39.2bn business plan two weeks ago, is preparing to renew its project management and engineering framework ahead of its expiry on 30 November 2009.

The 32 firms on the existing framework, which started in 2005, include Atkins, Faber Maunsell, Halcrow, Hyder and Mott MacDonald.

Meanwhile, 12 contractors appointed to a £2.8bn London Underground programme two months ago are yet to see any work. The firms, including Balfour Beatty, Carillion and Skanska, won a place on the Vendor Capital Programme in September but are still waiting for jobs to come through.
