Architects and engineers picked for next round of design competition to improve the look of the UK鈥檚 overhead rail gantries
Grimshaw and Moxon Architects have been longlisted in an international design competition to improve the look of the UK鈥檚 overhead rail gantries.
They made it on to the list of 10 from 62 entries that were submitted from around the world to RIBA Competitions.
The competition to design 鈥渁esthetically pleasing鈥 gantry and cantilever structures on the UK rail network was run in association with industry body FutureRailway and HS2 Ltd.
The winning designs could play a part in the way Britain鈥檚 railway implements future electrification schemes.
An exhibition has opened at the National Railway Museum in York featuring models of the 10 shortlisted designs which can also be seen here: www.ribacompetitions.com/ols.
Interviews will be held with the longlisted teams on May 6 & 7 with up to four designs then selected for further development.
