JLL to lead sale of Anfield Square brownfield site

A project team has been appointed for the next stage in the £260m regeneration of the area around Liverpool FC’s Anfield Stadium. 

Consultants JLL will lead the marketing and sale of Anfield Square, a brownfield site next to the stadium which has been vacant since the demolition of more than 150 derelict properties.

The Anfield Square site is bounded by Walton Breck Road, Gilman Street, Back Rockfield Road and Pulford Street

They will be supported by a subconsultant team which includes LDA Design and placemaking specialist Placed as it seeks to attract potential developers. 

The Anfield regeneration programme has already delivered more than 1,000 new and refurbished homes, as well as a new school, retail and public spaces and the expansion of the stadium itself. 

A series of public and stakeholder engagement sessions for the Anfield Square regeneration are to be held in February and March.

Buckingham has been carrying out work expanding the club’s Anfield Road stand with work due to finish in time for the start of the 2023/24 season

Contractor Buckingham is currently carrying out work on the £60m Anfield Road stand expansion, which was designed by architect KSS and will add 7,000 seats to the end of the ground opposite the Kop. 

The job hit an obstacle at the end of last year when its cladding subcontractor SD Samuels went into administration before completing its work at the stadium.
