About 850 workers begin strikes over demands for an extra 拢1/hour bonus payment from main contractor Laing O鈥橰ourke.

Civil engineering workers on Heathrow Terminal 5 have gone on strike in a dispute over payment.

Around 850 workers began strikes this morning over demands for an extra 拢1/hour bonus payment from main contractor Laing O鈥橰ourke. The strike is scheduled to last until Tuesday morning.

The action follows unsuccessful negotiations between Laing O鈥橰ourke and unions UCATT, the GMB and T&G. Workers feel they should be paid an extra 拢1/hour to match increases awarded to electricians and steelworkers on the site.
