Consultant wins two new commissions on King Abdullah Financial District
Consultant Sweett Group has landed two new contracts on the development of the mammoth King Abdullah Financial District in Riyadh.
Sweett will provide cost management services on two new public attractions in the new 3.5km2 district, the Info.HUB and the Butterfly Dome.
The 44,000m2 Info.Hub 鈥 designed to look like a 鈥渄esert mushroom鈥 will include a library, media activity rooms, tourist information area, exhibition space and other community facilities.
The spherical-shaped Butterfly Dome will house some of the world鈥檚 most exotic butterfly species.
Sweett said the two buildings would provide workers in the financial district a 鈥渃alm retreat鈥.
Sweett is already provided consultancy services on a range of other projects in the district 鈥 the Capital Market Authority tower, the Museum of the Built and Environemnt, a spa complex and three further mixed-use towers.
Sweett is supporting Germany-based architect Gerber Architekten on the Info.Hub and Butterfly Dome projects.
Spencer Wylie, director of cost management, MENA, said: 鈥淭he Kingdom of Saudi Arabia is one of our key strategic focus areas as we look to strengthen our position and service offering in the region.
鈥淭hese further commissions within the King Abdullah Financial District in support of Gerber Architekten, who are producing some very exciting architecture, are testament to our strong incumbent project and cost management teams already delivering high profile schemes in and around Riyadh.鈥
