A 鈥榮uper slender鈥� 37-storey tower in Birmingham has been given the go-ahead by the city鈥檚 planning committee.
Designed by Glancy Nicholls Architects, the 拢58m development will be 116.5m tall and just 9.5m wide, making it the UK鈥檚 first habitable 鈥榮uper slender鈥� structure.
The plans for the tower, known as 211 Broad Street, will include an hotel with 264 apartment rooms, along with a bar, restaurant, gym and residents lounge.
The skyscraper, designed for client Taylor Grange Developments, will be located near Brindley Place, one of the new stops on the West Midlands Metro extension.
The scheme will also be opposite The Bank, two other residential towers designed by the Jewellery Quarter-based architects.
Construction is expected to be finished in 2022.
Glancy Nicholls is currently working on several projects in Birmingham including the regeneration of Perry Barr for the Commonwealth Games and has designed a 61-storey tower 100 Broad Street, which, at 193m, is set to be the city鈥檚 tallest building.
