The Millennium Dome's white roof is set to be replaced by clear panels under plans proposed by Legacy, the company appointed preferred bidder to buy the building for 拢125m this week.
Under Legacy's proposals, the 92 000 m2 dome's contents will be replaced by a high-tech business park constructed of prefabricated modules.
Designed by architect Lifschutz Davidson, the modules can be stacked up to 20 storeys high. Legacy claims units can be erected or extended overnight.
Sections of the Teflon roof will be removed to allow daylight to flood into the dome's interior, enabling parks and avenues of trees to grow.
Sources close to the dome's original design team confirmed that sections of the Teflon roof could be replaced by glass or ETFE panels.
