Turnover stays flat at civils specialist in six months to June
A strong first quarter helped keep civils specialist NMCN in the black for the first six months of this year with revenue staying broadly flat despite sites being shut down.
The firm, previously known as North Midland Construction, posted an improved pre-tax profit of £1.8m in the first three months of the year on turnover up 3.7% to £98m.
But the second quarter saw income slip 14% to £84m and the firm, which carries out two-thirds of its work in the water sector, turn in a £1m pre-tax loss.
It said all its sites were now back up and running and its order book for completion this year is around £350m compared to £356m the previous year.
Pre-tax profit for the six months to June was £800,000, a fall of 77% on the £3.5m it posted last time, with turnover staying flat at £182m.
