Amanda Levete, Edward Cullinan, Feilden Clegg Bradley and Zaha Hadid in running for University of Manchester art gallery
A stellar line-up of architects are in the running to design an extension to an art gallery for the University of Manchester.
The RIBA’s competitions office today unveiled a longlist featuring some of the highest profile names in British architecture, including two Stirling prize winners and five Stirling finallists.
The 10 were chosen from 139 expressions of interest to compete for the design of a new extension and refurbishment of the Whitworth Art Gallery, at the University of Manchester.
The 10 are:

- Dixon Jones
- Edward Cullinan Architects
- Eric Parry Architects
- Feilden Clegg Bradley
- Haworth Tompkins
- MUMA
- Stanton Williams
- Stephenson Bell with Carmody Groake
- Zaha Hadid Architects
The longlist of 10 will be interviewed by a jury panel, after which they will be whittled down to a list of five. Shortlisted designs will be submitted in September, with a winner selected in November.
