Developer Bellerophon has set a start date of spring 2015 for a 拢500m regeneration scheme in Cardiff city centre.

The riverside development in the city鈥檚 Dumballs Road area will include 2,150 homes, a new primary school, shops and restaurants.

The site was formerly one of the city鈥檚 busiest industrial areas.

Richard Daley, chief executive of Bellerophon, said: 鈥淒umballs Road is the only area of land in the city centre that remains in dire need of regenerating and has been a blight on the landscape for far too long,鈥

Cardiff council leader Phil Bale said: 鈥淭his is an ambitious, high quality scheme, and a significant achievement by both parties to get it off the ground without public sector funding.

鈥淭he 拢500m project will deliver much needed jobs and will create a number of new facilities that will leave a lasting legacy for the community.鈥
