Scheme, at Virginia Water near Windsor, is for the Crown Estate
A pavilion on Royal land near Windsor designed by architect Stanton Williams has received planning permission.
The Virginia Water Pavilion, commissioned by the Crown Estate, will overlook Virginia Water, an extensive man-made lake set in a picturesque eighteenth century landscape within grade-II listed grounds at the southwest corner of Windsor Great Park.
The pavilion, located at the entrance to Virginia Water, will boast a canopied form, framing views of the lake and providing a sense of arrival.
The building will include a kiosk selling refreshments, toilets and staff facilities, will be close to a new 鈥榳ooded glade鈥 and will be built of sustainable timber from the Windsor Estates commercial forest.
Alan Stanton, director at Stanton Williams said: 鈥淲e believe that the project will engage and welcome people to Virginia Water, enhancing a unique place that people can enjoy visiting time and again.鈥
