Urban Splash has transformed a grade-II listed estate through a 拢100m regeneration

Flats in Sheffield鈥檚 newly redeveloped Park Hill estate will go on sale next week after expressions of interest by more than 1,000 people.

Though formerly viewed as a post-war monstrosity, the grade-II listed estate has been revitalised by an ambitious 拢100m regeneration.

Refurbishment specialist Urban Splash transformed the site in partnership with Sheffield council, Great Places Housing Group, English Heritage and the Homes & Communities Agency.

As well as apartments, it boasts 40,000ft2 of commercial space available for offices, shops, bars, restaurants and other purposes. Each unit features floor to ceiling windows overlooking the city and the newly landscaped park areas around the estate.

Architects Hawkins Brown and Studio Egret West have added colourful anodised aluminium panel on the exterior, while Grant Associates designed a spacious courtyard and garden areas for residents.

Interested parties can reserve apartments from this autumn, and the first residents will move into them in 2012.

Ivor Smith, one of the estate鈥檚 original architects, recently took a tour of the redevelopment. He commented: 鈥淭his scheme gives real meaning to the word 鈥渞egeneration鈥; it represents a new beginning, a new vitality. I sense in those who have been involved the same enthusiasm and excitement that Jack Lynn and I enjoyed half a century ago.

鈥淚t will be a great place to live!鈥
