The managing director of private contractor Benson has left six years after he led a management buy-in at the firm.

Alistair Sloan, who quit the 拢110m-turnover firm last Monday, has been replaced by interim chief executive Tony Rieger.

Sloan, who was formerly at Morgan Sindall, led the buy-in at Benson in 1998. At the time, the firm鈥檚 turnover was about 拢14m.

Sloan expanded the firm into the fit-out market and geographically into Southampton, Maidenhead and the northern Home Counties.

Benson made a pre-tax loss of 拢289,286 in 2002 but moved back into the black last year, posting a pre-tax profit of 拢888,739.

Steve Pope, group operations director, said the firm鈥檚 strategy was unaffected by Sloan鈥檚 departure.
