Skanska鈥檚 development arm has secured planning permission for a Make Architects-designed office-led scheme at 11-19 Monument Street, London
The City of London planning committee gave the green light to the Skanska Project Development鈥檚 scheme, which will see the existing buildings at 11-15 Monument Street, 46 Fish Street Hill and 1-2 Pudding Hill replaced with around 85,000 sq ft of offices on nine floors, as well as 3,000 sq ft of ground floor retail accommodation.
Work is expected to start on site later in the year with completion scheduled for 2015.
Skanska Project Development鈥檚 Neal Pickering said: 鈥淭he site was acquired last year with the intention of delivering 85,000 sq ft of Grade A offices, designed by Ken Shuttleworth鈥檚 Make Architects, by the end of 2015, with around 40,000 sq ft of the office space being occupied by Skanska UK and the remainder of the space being let to occupiers looking for offices upwards of 10,000 sq ft in a prime city location.
鈥淲e believe that 11-19 Monument Street will set new occupational standards in terms of design and sustainability.鈥
Gary Rawlings, Partner at Make Architects said: 鈥淲e are delighted 11-19 Monument Square has been granted planning consent. The scheme for SPDL will create a high quality, contemporary, energy efficient building which celebrates its contextual setting adjacent to Wren and Hooke鈥檚 Monument to the Great Fire of London.鈥
GVA advised on planning and Arup has been appointed as engineer.
