Contractor to rebuild 6 km stretch of line between Prague and Decin as part of overhaul of northern Czech network.
Contractor Skanska has won a £25.9m share of a £47.4m contract to rebuild a section of railway in the Czech Republic.
The project is part of the Czech railway administration’s plan to raise safety levels and enable train speeds of up to 120 kmph in the area.
The scheme, won as part of a Czech consortium, includes the rebuilding of a 6 km stretch of railway line between Prague and Decin, in the northern part of the Czech Republic.
The project entails a total rebuild and a rerouting of parts of the line. The installation of new communication and signal systems and 1 km of sound barriers is included.
The project will commence immediately and is scheduled for completion in October 2008.
