Skanska UK has returned to the black a year after making a loss of 拢41.5m and parting ways with former chief executive David Fison

Its latest results show that the UK arm of the Swedish firm made a profit of 拢14.6m on turnover of 拢747m in the six months to 30 June 2009.

Last year鈥檚 loss followed writedowns on two PFI hospital jobs in Derby and Nottingham.

Turnover at the global group fell 2% from 拢5.5bn to 拢5.35bn and profit was down 18% from 拢158m to 拢130m.

Johan Karlstrom, the global chief executive, picked out the recent financial close of the M25 widening deal as a financial highlight in the UK; this is worth 拢2.5bn to Skanska.
