A new chief executive has replaced David Fison at Skanska UK days after the company reported an operating loss of 拢41.5m.

Mats Williamson, the former president of Skanska Sweden, arrived in the UK on Sunday, three days after the company reported its results for the first half of this year.

The loss followed a writedown of 拢19.6m on a problem PFI hospital job in the second quarter of the year and a writedown of 拢30m in the first quarter. Skanska linked Fison鈥檚 exit to the poor figures.

Turnover at Skanska UK rose 9% from 拢695m to 拢758m over the six months. During the same period, the global group boosted turnover by 8% from 拢5.3bn to 拢5.7bn; operating profit rose 10% from 拢183m to 拢202m.
