Contractor will build military training centre at Worthy Down in Winchester
Skanska has won a £250m design and build contract for a new military training centre at Worthy Down in Winchester.
Construction begins this month and is set to conclude summer 2018. Once complete it will accommodate up to 2,000 students and staff.
The development of the Worthy Down site will enable military units to relocate from Princess Royal Barracks Deepcut in Surrey, which is then intended to be closed and sold.
As part of the deal, Skanska will also act as development manager for the redevelopment of the Deepcut site where around 1,200 homes, a school and other facilities will be built.
