The former plant鈥檚 25m-tall grain silos will be converted into a boutique hotel
EPR Architects鈥 proposals for the redevelopment of the former Shredded Wheat factory in Welwyn Garden City have been approved.
The scheme will deliver 850 new homes in the town鈥檚 centre as well as converting the original 鈥 now listed 鈥 1920鈥檚 Shredded Wheat Factory buildings into new office space, retail units and a cr猫che. The former plant鈥檚 25m-tall grain silos will be converted into a boutique hotel.
An key part of the masterplan for the 20-acre site is the restoration of the modernist production buildings, and a new publicly-accessible formal garden space will also feature.
Financial details of the development were not disclosed.
