Store will be South Yorkshire鈥檚 first IKEA store

Sheffield City Council (SCC) has approved plans for development of a 拢60m IKEA store in the city.

SCC approved the plans yesterday. The Swedish furniture retailer hopes to open the new store at junction 34 of the M1 in 2016.

The store will be IKEA鈥檚 first South Yorkshire store. Ikea said it had been looking for many years for a 鈥渓arge enough鈥� site in South Yorkshire.
