John Davies, who set up the company 25 years ago, will continue in his position as company chairman and Ted Chapman as managing director.

JDI will be run as an independent unit and Shaylor will make investments into the company relating to systems improvements, development in staff training, health and safety and IT and a greater focus on the sales and marketing of the company.

Steve Shalyor, Shaylor's managing director, said: 鈥淲e are able to broaden our range of services working alongside JDI and can now provide a total external and internal construction solution to a wide range of customers in both the public and private sectors.

鈥淲e were attracted to JDI because it fits in with the ethos and culture of Shaylor. We are both family run businesses with a long heritage of quality workmanship and have a strong brand and presence within our respective industries.鈥
