Bridge will link ruins of 13th-century Castle on the Cornish coast
English Heritage will begin its search next month for a contractor to build a £4m bridge linking up the ruins of the 13th-century Tintagel Castle on the Cornish coast.
The bridge, designed by Shard project architect William Matthews and Belgian engineer Ney & Partners, will be suspended 28m higher than the site’s existing crossing.
Subject to planning approval English Heritage plans to appoint a contractor via a two-stage tender process with the first pre-construction stage to be awarded by February. The main construction of the bridge is expected to begin in winter 2018 with completion the following year.
The tender will be advertised on Contracts Finder and English Heritage’s Supplier Portal (see ).
