Cities to share 拢12m pot to help support Green Deal roll-out
Seven cities across England have received a small boost to their plans to roll-out the Green Deal after the government said they would each receive a share of 拢12m in funding.
The Department of Energy and Climate Change said the cities - Birmingham, Bristol, Leeds, Manchester, Newcastle, Nottingham and Sheffield - had put forward proposals to roll out the Green Deal across their conurbation and that funding would help support their plans.
Energy secretary Edward Davey said: 鈥淭his funding will help them get up and running, and I look forward to seeing a number of properties across whole communities get the energy efficient improvements they need.鈥
DECC said all of the cities are also proposing to generate match funding or provide direct support themselves.
The funding comes that the government had delayed the start of the Green Deal until the new year, with no work no expected to come to market until February.
