Architect arrested over allegations of fraud over awarding of building contracts at Queen鈥檚 Medical Centre in Nottingham.
The Serious Fraud Office is investigating alleged irregularities in the awarding of building contracts at a NHS hospital in Nottingham.
The investigation followed an internal audit at Queen鈥檚 Medical Centre, which revealed irregularities in the awarding of building contracts. The hospital was concerned that capital building contracts were going to the same company.
On November 18 fraud officers made raids on two businesses and two residences in Leicestershire, Nottinghamshire and South Yorkshire. As a result two people including an architect were arrested but released without being charged.
A Queen鈥檚 Medical Centre statement said: 鈥淭he Queen's Medical Centre has been assisting both the Office of Fair Trading and the Serious Fraud Office in uncovering irregularities in the issue of public sector building contracts.鈥
鈥淎s a result the OFT is conducting an investigation into the provision of building contracts for public sector work in the Nottinghamshire and Derbyshire area.鈥
