Consultant win £14.5m contract to project manage construction work on 440km railway
Scott Wilson is to provide project management support on the construction of the first high-speed rail line in the Middle East, Saudi Arabia’s 320kph link between Mecca and several other cities.
The 440km long Haramain line will link Mecca to Jeddah, the new King Abdullah Economic City and Medina, as well as Jeddah International Airport.
The Saudi Railways Organisation (SRO) has awarded Scott Wilson a £14.5m, five-year contract to provide technical, specialist engineering and programme management support services both at the SRO headquarters in Dammam and around the construction and commissioning sites.
The group’s chief executive Hugh Blackwood said: "Saudi Arabia is a rapid growth area with continuing investment in key infrastructure.
"Scott Wilson is delighted to be involved in such a high profile rail project which provides a further opportunity to apply our growing global rail credentials."
