Barr Holdings has posted turnover of 拢231.9m in the nine months to 31 December 2008

The figure compares with 拢294m in the year to 31 March 2008 and produces a broadly flat comparable annualised sum of 拢285m.

Pre-tax profit at the Scottish contractor and civil engineering firm, which works across the UK, was 拢5.6m, which compares with 拢14,000 over the previous period.

A company statement said: 鈥淭he marketplace is challenging in all sectors where the group trades. In order to manage the situation the group has reduced its cost base. Looking forward, however, market activity is expected to improve.鈥�

The pay of the highest-paid director was 拢193,083 over the nine-month period, compared with 拢226,391 in the previous year.
