Construction firms team up to transform three classrooms for BBC Breakfast TV inside a week
A project to transform three rooms in a London primary school will be shown live on BBC Breakfast TV this week.
The British Council for School Environments has teamed up with contractors, architects and suppliers to give a primary school a 鈥楥hanging Rooms鈥-style makeover inside one week.
Companies involved in the project include Atkins, Baily Garner, BRE, Buro Four, Buschow Henley Architects, Denton Wilde Sapte, EC Harris, Gensler, Saint-Gobain Ecophon and Willmott Dixon.
The organisations are working on three areas at Southfield Primary School in Ealing, in an attempt to show how schools can be changed to improve learning and teaching.
After appearing live on BBC鈥檚 Breakfast on Monday, the camera crews will return to see how the rooms have been changed on Friday morning.
Mike Hart, Willmott Dixon鈥檚 managing director in North London, said: 鈥淲e are already very active in the borough as one of Ealing鈥檚 construction framework partners so saw this as a great chance to get involved in a worthy cause that will have a very positive outcome for pupils and teachers.
鈥淲e will have an eight strong project team at the school from Monday who will ensure the makeover is ready for a grand unveiling on the Friday.鈥
