Contracting authority launches 鈥榣argest ever framework鈥

Scape has re-launched its major works framework and increased its estimated value from 拢5.5bn to 拢7bn.

Unlike Scape鈥檚 existing major works agreement, held solely by Willmott Dixon, the latest version will be split into five lots and appoint a lead contractor to each one.

The contracting authority says it believes the 拢7bn value over four years represents the largest framework ever procured.

Scape said the 拢1.5bn uplift in value for the framework from its last estimate comes after feedback from its public sector clients about the amount of work they expect to tender through the framework.

Successful bidders are expected to be announced by next February, with the framework likely to replace the existing major works framework by May next year.

Mark Robinson (pictured), chief executive of Scape, commented: 鈥淪ince we announced the framework we have engaged in detailed market and client consultation which made it clear that increased values for the options within the framework are essential in helping public sector bodies meet their growing demand for high quality and cost-effective buildings.鈥
