Contractor failed to implement control procedures after worker fell from bridge
ROK.has been fined £20,000 in the High Court after a worker fell 3m from a bridge at Heathrow.
The contractor was also ordered to pay costs of £17,400 after self employed flooring contractor Mr Sterry sustained severe leg injuries after falling through a thin metal sheet onto a concrete floor.
ROK pleaded guilty to a breach of section 4 (1) of the Health and Safety at Work Act 1974 at the City of London Magistrates Court in May.
Rok had previously identified that working at height may be a safety risk but it failed to implement control procedures.
Steve Kirton, HSE Inspector said, "Any work at height or work near fragile surfaces needs to be properly planned and assessed. Any identified control measures need to be fully implemented."
