Research centre scheme due to open next year
Sheffield university has appointed Scottish contractor Robertson to build its £11m advanced manufacturing research centre at a site near Preston.
Advanced Manufacturing Research Centre North West, whose research facilities and specialist equipment are currently located at the University of Central Lancashire’s Preston campus, plans to open the new facility at the Samlesbury Aerospace Enterprise Zone next year.
The main construction contract for the project is worth around £10.8m and is expected to take just over 12 months to complete.
The job was originally put out to tender in October last year.
The project is set to be funded via the European Regional Development Fund and a local growth fund.
