Consultant provides cost estimates for temporary overlay installations at all 30 of the Rio 2016 competition venues
Rider Levett Bucknall has won a cost management role on the Rio 2016 Olympic Games.
The consultant has provided cost estimates for temporary overlay installations at all 30 of the Rio 2016 competition venues.
Temporary overlay installations typically include venues, seats, tents, cabins, fencing, power generators and crowd barriers.
RLB supported the delivery of temporary overlay installations worth over 拢650m over the course of six years on the London 2012 Olympics.
Rio is expected to follow London鈥檚 suit and include a high proportion of temporary venues and infrastructure that can be dismantled after the Games, with the aim of leaving no 鈥渨hite elephants鈥.
The London Games featured several temporary venues, including beach volleyball at Horse Guards Parade, archery at Lord鈥檚 Crickety Ground and equestrian events at Greenwich Park.
RLB also worked on the Sydney 2000, Athens 2004 and Beijing 2008 Olympic Games.
Lance Taylor, chief executive of RLB said: 鈥淥ur experience is holding us in good stead. We are currently providing budget and cost management services to the Glasgow 2014 Commonwealth Games and England Rugby 2015 Rugby World Cup, in addition to supporting a growing number of opportunities for sports stadia and arena in the UK and internationally.鈥
