Advice leaflets aim to help local government counter recent criticism over inefficient property management
The RICS has published a set of asset management guidelines for local authorities in a bid to stem the growing criticism against councils for their property management.
The set of seven leaflets aimed at council members, senior professionals and practitioners aims to help local government make best use of its assets in the current economic climate.
Chair of the RICS public sector executive group, Keith Jones, said: 鈥淎ssets are a corporate resource and should be managed accordingly. Senior decision makers need to engage with the asset management agenda and make sure their authority's assets fully support the authority's strategic plans.
鈥淭hese leaflets aim to assist with the policy context within which decisions are made and give suggested best practice, to ensure assets continue to play a crucial part in creating sustainable communities.鈥
