Entry level qualification launched based on online assessment and relevant work experience
The RICS has launched a new qualification that will allow people without degrees to become chartered surveyors.
The entry level qualification will carry the letters AssocRICS and be rolled out across a number of specialist areas, starting with quantity surveying.
It will provide a progressive, non-graduate route to chartered status. AssocRICS will be achieved through an online, competency-based process and demonstration of relevant work experience. Those who attain it will then be able to work towards chartered status. The RICS said: "AssocRICS will offer those working in land, property and construction a progressive, non-graduate route to chartered status."
RICS chief executive, Louis Armstrong, said: 鈥淭his new entry-level qualification is an opportunity for many excellent property professionals who previously have been denied access to a professional qualification due to a lack of academic qualifications.
鈥淩ICS is keen to recognise the experience and competence of a broad section of workers and offer them the opportunity to attain chartered status and remove barriers to social mobility and career progression.鈥
