Farringdon firm Red Construction drafted in
Work has restarted on a north London shopping centre caught up in the collapse of Simons at the end of October.
Farringdon-based firm Red Construction has been drafted in to complete the revamp of the Angel Central shopping centre off Upper Street in Islington.
The 拢8m scheme was left in limbo after the Lincoln contractor went under after more than 70 years in business.
Family-owned Simons specialised in retail and commercial work and its clients included chemist Boots, supermarkets Morrisons and Aldi, High Street giant Marks & Spencer and fashion chain Primark.
The expansion of the shopping centre, designed by Haskoll and which is owned by CBRE, includes a new link bridge, a new lighting scheme, upgraded flooring and three new restaurants.
Red, which was set up in 2015, said it focuses on schemes worth between 拢5m and 拢25m in the central London area. In the year to March 2019, it posted a 拢15m turnover.
