Contractor announces £276m contract haul
Carillion has bagged a role on a remote £86m power cable job in Newfoundland, Canada, as part of a £276m raft of contract wins.
Carillion, through Rostad Power, in which it has a 60% stake, will deliver a power transmission cable linking Newfoundland to the North American power grid for the first time in history. The job was won in joint venture with Emera Utility Services.
The contract will involve delivering 190km of transmission cabling, including the construction of tower foundations and anchors, tower assembly and erection and the stringing of conductors. The contract is scheduled for completion by April 2017.
Meanwhile, in Ireland, Carrilion has been awarded a £190m deal by Irish Schools to finance, build, operate and maintain five schools in the counties of Meath, Carlow, Wicklow and Wexford.
