Housing minister Margaret Beckett says RDAs will flag up developments hit by financial difficulties
The regional development agencies (RDAs) in the Thames Gateway will flag up the developments most at risk of stalling, the housing minister has told the Thames Gateway Forum.
Opening the two-day conference, Margaret Beckett said the RDAs 鈥 the East of England Development Agency, the London Development Agency and the South-East England Development Agency 鈥 would identify regeneration projects most likely to face difficulties so they could act to keep them on track.
She also announced 拢19m for several park schemes, including an activity park for cyclists and the restoration of the Thames and Medway Canal.
She added: 鈥淭he past year has shown continued and even accelerated momentum throughout the Gateway.鈥
Also at the forum:
- Beckett announced the launch of the Institute for Sustainability, which will carry out research and demonstration projects as part of a drive to bring green industries into the Gateway.
- The government launched its prospectus to make the Gateway the first 鈥渆co-region鈥.
