The rate of deaths and serious injuries in construction has fallen over the past year, according to the latest report from the Health and Safety Executive.
The Health and Safety Statistics 2005/06 report shows the rate of major injury to employees fell by 5% from 326.9 to 310.2 per 100,000 workers.
The rate of fatal injury fell to three per hundred thousand workers, the lowest on record.
The report also showed that between 1999/2000 and 2005/06:
- The rate of reported fatal injuries in construction has fallen about 36%
- The rate of reported injuries to employees that kept them away from work for more than three days has fallen about 31%.
