Here are three of the the six entries shortlisted for the Halley VI competition to design a scientific research station at one of the Earth’s most extreme environments. Located 10,000 miles from the UK on a 150 m thick floating ice shelf, the complex must be self-sufficient, able to withstand temperatures of –30°C and have minimal impact on Antarctica’s environment.
