Architect Purcell Miller Tritton has appointed Jeremy Blake principal of its hotels and sustainability division.

Blake was previously a director at architect Aukett Fitzroy Robinson. Purcell鈥檚 new division is called Shh! (sustainable heritage hotels). It has won 拢100m of contracts.

Blake is working on what he describes as Britain鈥檚 greenest hotel 鈥� the Bowood Hotel and Spa in Wiltshire.

The 拢7m project is set in a grade I-registered landscape. It will involve installing a biomass boiler, planting reed beds, incorporating a heat exchanger and a sedum roof. It is expected to start on site in the summer.

A spokesperson for Purcell Miller Tritton said it was the first architect to specialise in the design of sustainable heritage hotels.

It is working on 10 hotels across the UK and Ireland.

Purcell Miller Tritton鈥檚 clients include the National Trust, the National Gallery, the V&A = and English Heritage. #It was founded 50 years ago and has eight offices in the UK.
